Why We Built CoachAvail

A hockey parent story that became a platform for coaches, players, and families.

A Hockey Parent's Story

I'm a hockey dad. Over six years of watching my son train, I saw how the right coach can change a player's path.

We learned quickly that effort alone is not enough. Real progress takes specialized coaching, quality reps, and sessions that fit real family schedules.

Finding those sessions was chaotic: word of mouth, random texts, and late updates. Sometimes we got in; sometimes we missed out. I have also been the parent scrambling to bring cash or send Venmo after a session.

Coaches carried their own version of that pressure. They pay for ice up front, fill spots under time pressure, try to notify the right families fairly, and still end up buried in admin when they would rather be coaching.

CoachAvail is our attempt to remove that friction with empathy and professionalism. Coaches can publish, communicate, and get paid seamlessly. Parents can discover the right coach, book quickly, and show up prepared. Players get more consistent development. Families get less chaos. Coaches get back to coaching.

If we can make that experience better for coaches and for parents like me, this platform has done something meaningful.
